A little bit about me...
I grew up around the automobile industry, my family owned a dealership in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dave Waite Pontiac-GMC-Nissan. I always thought I would someday take over the reins, well at least help steer the family business along with my grandpa, dad, and uncle.
So when it came to go to college I made the obvious choice, Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. My area of study was automotive marketing. That was in 1978, and in 1981 I received a phone call that altered my future plans. We closed the dealership!
I was playing as much golf as time allowed, I had a huge passion for it, (which I still do), and was pretty good. I won the Brookshire Golf Club Championship in 1993 and 1994 by wide margins, so I made the decision to move south to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue my dream of becoming a professional golfer. Instead, I became a golf professional.
After 5 1/2 years serving Cherokee Ridge Country Club, I took a short hiatus from golf and the golf business, when...
The greatest thing happened, I came across an ad looking for a golf coach for the girl's golf team at the Zionsville Middle School. I responded, got the job, and found my passion for the game again! This was the most rewarding experience of my life! We went 11-2 for the season, we finished second in our Invitational and Conference tournaments, but the best part was just teaching the girls. I now know what I should be doing, and that is sharing my knowledge, passion, and love of the game of golf with others.
